How do your teeth become so bad that you need dentures?

Everybody that has lost teeth, lost them for many different reasons. All the reason have to deal with some type of dental disease and wear dentures .

The first reason is oral flora control. Oral flora control, is simply keeping up with oral hygiene. Making sure you brush, floss and rinse your mouth after every time you eat or at least twice a day, usually as soon as you wake up and right before you go to bed. Keeping up your dental hygiene for your dentures, will help prevent tartar and plaque on your teeth, which can cause bad breath. Tarter and plaque can lead to gum diseases, cavities and gingivitis. One-third of the adults has had a severe case of gum disease.

The next reason is periodontal disease. Periodontal disease can affect the alveolar bone ( tooth beared bone), cementum (it is a substance that covers the tooth's root), gingiva (mucosal tissue that lays on top of the alveolar bone) and periodontal ligament (a group of special connective fibers of tissue that is connected to the alveolar bone).

The next reason is tooth decay.Tooth decay is also known as a cavity or dental caries. It is a disease where the bacteria starts eating away at the teeth. It eats away at the hard structure of the tooth (cementum, dentin and the enamel.) It is the most common disease in world.

The next reason is severe case of malnutrition. If you don't have a well balanced diet, it can cause your teeth to have problems. Different nutrition's to make sure you have in your diet is; food energy, simple carbohydrates, complex carbohydrates, saturated fat, Trans fat, unsaturated fat, fat, omega 3 fats, omega 6 fats, cholesterol, protein, sodium, iron, iodine, Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, calcium, magnesium and potassium. You have to have different amounts all of them in your diet, check with a dietitian.

The next reason is Dentinogenesis imperfecta, which is a genetic defect. It has to deal with the tooth development because it is a genetic disorder. It affects 1 in every six thousand (6,000) to eight thousand (8,000) people.

The last reason is drug use. Using drugs affects your entire body including your teeth, the more drugs you use, the faster you will loose your teeth.
